When Virginia Giannini, granddaughter of Bank of America founder A.P. Giannini, passes away, she leaves a letter with one request: to open the boxes in her basement. Among those she names is filmmaker Davide Fiore, whose previous documentary traced her grandfather’s life.

Inside dozens of boxes, Davide and his wife, Chiara, find passports, letters, and photographs, fragments of a life untouched for more than thirty years. At the center of it all is a name history has nearly erased: Claire Giannini Hoffman, A.P.’s daughter.

With the house about to be sold, and possibly demolished, Davide sets out to answer one question: who was Claire Giannini Hoffman?

Guided by historians Dr. Deanna Paoli Gumina and Duncan Knowles and archivists Randy and Linda Welch, he pieces together a woman who took her father’s seat on the Bank of America board, was sought out by presidents, and, after losing her father, her brother, and her husband, never stopped fighting for the rights of women and ordinary people.

Part archival investigation, part family portrait, All About Claire is a story about who gets remembered and who gets filed away. As the boxes search for a home, the harder question arrives last: once the house is gone, who keeps her story alive?
